COR Enterprises is growing strong to build a brighter future for the people we serve. We have outgrown our current mail facility located at 200 S. 24th Street and need an environment that can accommodate the expanding needs of the clients we serve. By doing so, we look forward to a building that will combine our main facility with the Career Guidance Center to create a welcoming, safe environment, a place of dignity and respect, filled with light and space, and one that facilitates a better atmosphere for people with disabilities to gain work skills and as much independence as possible.

However, the Building Project also contains another important task: raising the funds needed to bring this building to life. The land is already purchased, but another $2.5 million is needed, with about $1 million needed from fundraising and grants. COR has already conducted several small fundraisers, but looks to its base of supporters for help in identifying individuals, companies and grant-makers who would be interested in supporting COR and its values.

The Capital Campaign needs you. We need you to share this vision with friends and family. We need you to talk about your experiences with COR to colleagues and community members. We need your support through this process as we continue to Grow Strong. We are not just creating a building, we are creating a space where about 400 people will be served every year, with nearly 100 spending most of the day there. We want that space and that time to reflect our values of dignity, independence, and community. Please help us Grow Strong.

Save the Date!

COR Enterprises 6th annual Gala will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Shrine Auditorium from 6pm-10pm. Start the night off right with chilled beverages and yummy hors d'oeuvres during our cocktail hour followed by a full course dinner buffet. Bid on silent auction items throughout the night and plan to have fun with our live auction following dinner. We will be providing live music entertainment this year (band TBA at a later date) and a raffle drawing (See the “What’s New” section on our Home Page).

If you are interested in donating items for the silent or live auctions, please contact Tony Cline. Ticket prices to be announced soon! Help Support COR Enterprise and save the date!

We are in the process of opening EnCOR: Dress Sharp, a specialty store for men looking to find professional attire at a low cost. Fashion and personal hygiene advice will be offered to help them be successful in their job search. Along with professional men’s attire, we will also carry high quality women and children’s clothing.

Not only will be providing a service for individuals to be successful in their job search, we will also be creating training and work opportunities for persons with disabilities. The store will offer job training opportunities in sorting and displaying donations, customer service, cash register, money handling, and janitorial services. Individuals who attend the day programs at the COR work facility will also receive work opportunities through the store. Clothing items needing to be washed, ironed, or repaired will be sent to these individuals before being displayed. Clothing items that do not sell after a set period will be sent to COR where our clients can sort and cut material into rags and quilting squares, and recycle buttons and zippers. Unsold household items will be donated to supported living clients or to other social service agencies.

We recently competed for a $50,000 grant through the Pepsi Refresh Project, but did not make it into the top 10. We need the support of the community in order for this happen. We are looking for a space to rent/lease, possibly donated for a period of time or at a reduced rate. We are also looking for clothing racks and hangers, professional clothing and items, and any other support available. If you are interested in donating for our cause, please contact Gregg Hafner, 256-8160 Ext 101.
