COR ENTERPRISES’ NEW BUILDING
COR Enterprises is growing strong to build a brighter future for the people we serve. While we offer top-quality services and staff, we feel we can provide a better environment to help people with disabilities gain work skills, learn to care better for themselves, find jobs in the community, and interact with the community. Our current main facility, COR Enterprises on the South Side, is no longer serving our clients’ needs and desperately need to be combined with the Career Guidance Center building (by Job Service) into one welcoming, effective, healthy, and efficient space. A place of dignity and respect, a building filled with light and space, a safe place to learn and grow.
Imagine our vision: Welcoming, spacious work areas. Private spaces for health and medical needs. Layouts designed for continuous care of clients. Specially designed workspaces for all crews, including DMS (document management services), Wood Shop, and the Janitorial Crews. An attractive and professional building in a convenient location.
These are just a few things to look forward to in COR’s new building, to be built in the near future near the Job Service One-Stop Center, which also houses Vocational Rehabilitation and the Developmental Disabilities Program. Now case managers and counselors will have easier access to clients – and vice versa. Career Guidance Center clients will be able to effortlessly access Job Service assistance as well.
However, the Building Project also contains another important task: raising the funds needed to bring this building to life. The land is already purchased, but another $2.5 million is needed, with about $1 million needed from fundraising and grants. COR has already conducted several small fundraisers, but looks to its base of supporters for help in identifying individuals, companies and grant-makers who would be interested in supporting COR and its values:
-
Empowering people with disabilities to work and take part in the community;
-
Supporting local businesses, non-profits, and government agencies with information and resources on the ADA, the benefits of hiring people with disabilities, and the ways in which we can partner together for mutual benefit;
-
Continuing to grow to meet the changing needs of our clientele;
-
Promoting the dignity and independence of our clientele;
-
Partnering with civic groups to share our message, resources, and values
The Capital Campaign needs you. We need you to share this vision with friends and family. We need you to talk about your experiences with COR to colleagues and community members. We need your support through this process as we continue to Grow Strong. We are not just creating a building, we are creating a space where about 400 people will be served every year, with nearly 100 spending most of the day there. We want that space and that time to reflect our values of dignity, independence, and community. Please help us Grow Strong.
